Product Rave: Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque

I can hardly begin to express my love for this stuff. It's   a m a z i n g. I found it one day when I was in Walgreen's browsing around. I also bought a Yes to Tomatoes mask at the same time because I am pretty prone to acne and wanted to try both of them out.

I first tried the Yes to Tomatoes one and it broke me out terribly which I'm sure was the "purging" thing but I'm not into that. I took it back.

I read a bunch of reviews online about this Queen Helene shit but was still slightly hesitant because firstly, I didn't want to break out like a mofo again and secondly, because this stuff is amazingly cheap. This giant tube (8 oz) only cost me like $3.50! I don't know about you guys but I'm quite skeptical of items that are so awesomely priced.

The bottle says it "Helps dry up acne pimples, rinse away blackheads and shrink enlarged pores." I'm thrilled to say that it does exactly what it says it will. No to mention it smells so fresh (spearmint) and goes on so easily. It's also not a huge hassle to take off, all you have to do is wipe it with a warm washcloth and Voila!

From the reviews, I learned that people were using this every other day. I was only planning on using it once a week but If I can use it more often, I'm all for it. That's how much I love it. Now, the only reason I use it every other day is because I have combination skin. Normal on my cheeks but oily t-zone. So I figured it wouldn't dry me out too much due to my skin type. I wouldn't  recommend using it more than once or twice a week if you have dry skin as it may dry you out even more.

I have found that my pores have shrunk drastically and my blackheads are nearly nonexistent. The ones that I still have are easy to get out (not saying you should pick! It's a really bad habit of mine, can't resist sometimes!) As an example, I've had this one blackhead on the side of my nose that, I swear to you, WOULD NOT come out. It's like it wanted to sit in my face for the rest of eternity, no matter how hard I tried to expunge it. A few days after I started using this stuff, I went to town on my blackheads. One squeeze got that sucker out. If that's not amazing, I don't know what is.

I also use this as a spot treatment at night. I put it on my blemishes, pimples, problem spots, and whatever else before I go to bed and sleep with it on. It's awesome. It's sinks into your pimple and knocks it out.

All in all, if you're looking for a good mask to use weekly or whatever, get this! I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. You definitely cannot beat the price. Most places it's around $4.50 or $5.00. I think they raised the price but, even so, it's an awesome deal.

And now for the obligatory face with mask on picture.

Hope this helps!

Maybelline Color Tattoo Review

I've been hearing a lot of good things about Maybelline's Color Tattoos and figured I would try it out. These are said to be comparable to MAC's Paint Pots as well as Benefit's Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows. Since I've yet to try a Paint Pot (on the list,) I can't really compare them but I can compare it to Benefit.

I purchased the color Bad to the Bronze.

The consistency is nice, really smooth; It's feels thicker and heavier than Benefit's Creaseless Cream Shadow, but really, I can't complain. It's easy to blend and very build-able. You can do a light sweep for a hint of bronze or layer it on and get the full on bronze color like the swatch above.

I wore this the other day as an all-over lid color with Smashbox Bronze shadow in the crease. I really liked the way it looked and I feel like this bronze color will go well with lots and lots of other neutrals. Can't wait to try it out with the Naked 2 palette (when I can get my hands on it.) Anyway, here is a photo of what that looked like on my lids.

I used this picture in a previous post. Hope you guys don't mind!

Looks good, eh? I didn't wear a primer with this because I wanted to see if it would crease by the end of the day. It did. I'm sure that can be rectified with a primer though.

I did another swatch with Benefit's Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit because I think the combo is gorgeous. Here's what they look like side by side.

I prefer the consistency of Benefit but for around $7.00, you can still get a decent cream eyeshadow. It's great for the price and I would definitely recommend it. You can get around three of these for the price of one Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow, so if you're on a budget, go with the Color Tattoo. If you aren't on a budget, Get Both! haha!

OOTD. Feels Like Spring.

Thought I'd share my outfit today since I quite liked it and it was the first time I've been able to wear a dress since Summer. It was lovely.

Although it was quite warm today, I still felt a cardigan was necessary, especially for me since I'm ALWAYS cold. Plus, it's Spring so I feel a bit weird baring both shoulders and legs.
 Is that just me?

God, I love wearing sandals and freeing my feet. Not to mention getting to show off cute nail polish, eh? I love this color for Spring and Summer. It's perfect in my book.

Please ignore the feline photobombers.

Bet you weren't expecting this one, huh? I love this dress for this reason, among others. It's really easy to wear, and great with or without accessories. It's so simple and cute in the front and then BAM! there's some awesomeness in the back. I love the spot where the back cutout hits me. It's just so perfect. Guaranteed to wear this quite a bit this Spring and Summer.

Dress: O'neill, I got mine at PacSun
Cardigan: Mossimo from Target
Sandals: ecote' from Urban Outfitters

Hope everyone enjoyed!

Meow Monday! As Promised.

Ready to meet the kitties?!?
I don't know if you can handle these babies.
Nonetheless, here they are.

Muffin
I've had her for almost seven years now, I guess. She was supposed to be the family cat but she became mine (she chose me.) ha. How did we come to acquire this beautiful creature, you ask? Well, my step-mom's step dad (confusing, I know) found a bunch of kittens that someone had abandoned at the dump and my dad decided we needed a "mouser." He told my younger brother to "grab the orange one" and Muff's been with me ever since.

Karl
This picture makes him look slimmer than he is, and he still looks fat! Last Summer, my boyfriend moved in with me for a bit and we decided that Muffin needed a friend. We went down to the Humane Society and picked out this crazy little bastard. I swear to you, Karl is the biggest pain in my ass... but, I love him. It's a good thing he is so freaking adorable, too because he is... let's just say he's something else.

April's MyGlam Bag.

This was my first ever beauty bag/box of any kind so I was really excited when it arrived. The theme for this month was Girl's Night Out.

The bag itself is a metallic pink which I do not enjoy. I'm not much of a pink person. I probably will find some use for it but it's not something I would ever purchase.
I don't know what I'm going to use this for but I will find a use!!!

The bag came with five items in it. All of which I will use. I know from some blog posts and YouTube videos that last month's? bag came with a little brush pouch with a myglam brush in it. I think they are probably going to keep including different brushes in the bags so that subscribers can build up their myglam brush collection. So... this month I got two brushes in my bag.

They seem like they're going to be decent brushes but I have not had the chance to really try them out yet.

All-Over Eyeshadow Brush

Eyeliner Brush

At this point, I don't care either way for these brushes and I kind of would have rather had another sample but... You can never really have enough brushes, right?

I got some All-Belle false lashes which is nice. They will be nice to wear for a special occasion but I'm not really a false lash kinda gal. It's good to know I have them, though, if I ever feel inclined to slap em' on. They are nice too because they aren't super dramatic.

The card that came with the bag says " Accentuate
your eyes for any occasion with these gorgeous
faux lashes."

I also received a Lip Quench - Moisture Infused Lip Treatment by DermStore.

The myglam card reads, "Using a blend of nourishing oils,
this treatment softens and smooths lips."

The product itself reads, "Formulated with Maxi-Lip to give
thin, dry lips a fuller, smoother, hydrated appearance."

I really like this stuff. It's slightly sticky but not overly so. It looks and feels really nice on my lips. It's sheer with a slightly pink tone to it. This could be completely psychological but I feel like it really does make my lips look a bit fuller and definitely more hydrated.

Here's what is looks like over Covergirl Outlast Lipstain in Flirty Nude.

It gives the lips a pretty sheen.

Last, but not least, I got the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion.

myglam card says, " Create your unique look with these creamy glide on
pencils in the latest colors. Built to last 24/7."

I would like to say first that I love this. It really is super creamy and pretty blend-able. I'm also not sure what the other colors are that they were sending out but I'm so so glad I got perversion because I've been needing a new black pencil liner. This is PERFECT. I haven't been able to test out how long it lasts quite yet but If it lasts through the day without smudging I will be happy. Hell, I already am happy.

Overall, I am pleased with myglam bag for this month. I will get really good use out of almost all the products and that makes it great in my book. Can't wait for next month!

Just for fun, here's what my eyes look like today.
Maybelline's Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze
Smashbox shadow in Bronze in the crease
Highlight color from Wet n Wild's Walking on Eggshells pallet.
Revlon's Colorstay Liquid Liner in Blackest Black
Maybelline's Colossal mascara in Classic Black

Hope you all enjoyed reading this gargantuan post and I hope you all are as happy with your glambags as I am with mine!

Til next time.

Perfect Nail Color For Spring (and Summer)! Cheap, Too!

Okay, so I love Walgreens or any drugstore for that matter, simply because I can wander and just check out all the cosmetics and skincare products for HOURS. I'm not kidding you, either. I can just check labels and shit forever. It seems a bit sad but I love it.

Anyways, to the point, I was supposed to be studying, but decided to go to good ol' Walgreens instead. Needless to say, studying did not commence for quite sometime.

I was just looking at the essie nail polishes for a bit, trying to find a color that I could justify spending eight dollars on when I spotted a display of Sally Hansen polishes. I head over there and find out  that all the Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear polishes are 2/$4.00, which is a dollar off each polish.

Okay, these are two dollar nail polishes and I LOVE them. They have such a wide range of colors and for that measly amount of dolla bills, how could I resist? I got four for the same price as one essie polish. Don't get me wrong, I love essie polishes and they seem to last a LOT longer than any other polishes I've had, not to mention the fact that, for me, they seem to just even themselves out. You don't even have to really work at it to make it look good; It just does. So we will see how long this polish holds up.

The color I'm raving about today and probably will be all Spring is called Coral Reef. It's more of a pinky coral than an orangey coral, which I like because I'm not a huge fan of orange.

Isn't It Gorgeous!?

I love it, I love it, I love it! It may even replace my favorite of all time teal polish that I wore all Summer long...

Who am I kidding? I love me some teal but I promise you I will get very good use out of this one as well. I think it will look so good on my toes, too!

Much love!

P.S. Sorry for the shitty photos, I make do with what I've got :)

P.P.S. What are your favorite colors for Spring/Summer?

Keepin' It Real

Okay, first post, let's do this!

So, this blog is going to be about my acute addictions to make-up, skincare products, shopping, fashion, clothes, accessories, nail polish, and books, as well as my thoughts and feelings on aforementioned items as well as any other randomness I feel like blabbing about.

For a bit of background: I am a 20 year old college student from Utah. No, I am not Mormon. I have two cats which I adore. Yes, we will be having Meow Mondays. I love all things outdoors, though I don't do outdoorsy things as often as I would like. Need to work on that! I love reading and watching/going to the movies. I love cooking but hate the clean-up. I love going out to eat. I love traveling and wish I had the money to do it more often... someday. I like to play video games, don't judge me! Last but not least, I LOVE shopping. It's terrible, I know, but I just can't help it! I love trying out new things and this fuels the shopping. Eh, what can you do?

There is plenty of other things I like/love doing but I will not bore you with all of them.
Til next time!
